Each stage of the process must be passed before the applicant progresses to the next stage. The process typically takes approximately 45 days to complete.
Stage 1

Stage 2
Personal History Statement
Applications are carefully reviewed and selected candidates will be notified by phone. Selected candidates will be required to fill out a Personal History Statement (PHS) to support a thorough background investigation.
Stage 3
Preliminary Interview and Background Investigation
A preliminary interview will be scheduled upon receipt of the completed PHS. The preliminary interview also provides your background investigator an opportunity to review and clarify information pertaining to the background investigation.
Stage 4
Psychological Assessment
The candidate will be scheduled for a psychological assessment, required for Telecommunicator Licensing by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement.
Stage 5
Chief’s Interview
An interview panel with the Chief of Police and Assistant Chiefs
Stage 6
Drug Screen
