Officer of the Year

Detective Brian McClaran

Detective Brian McClaran was awarded the Officer of the Year for 2015. Detective McClaran distinguished himself as an invaluable asset not only to the Narcotics Section but to the entire Sherman Police Department. His unique ability to communicate with people both within and outside the law enforcement communities has led to advancing narcotics investigations further resulting in multiple key arrests and large seizers of narcotics.

As part of a very active and product unit, Detective McClaran maintains productive working relationships with several Federal Agencies that assist in the federal prosecution of Sherman narcotics cases. He, along with other officers from the Sherman PD and surrounding agencies, was instrumental in investigating human trafficking/prostitution cases throughout North Texas. These investigations have led to numerous arrests and foiled other related crimes.

Detective McClaran has demonstrated on countless occasions his willingness to go above and beyond the normal course of his duties. In recognition of his excellent performance of duty, Detective Brian McClaran is hereby awarded the Sherman Police Department's Officer of the Year for 2015.

Civilian of the Year

Karen Wolff

Karen Wolff was awarded the Civilian of the Year for 2015. The job title is identified as the Secretary to the Chief of Police; however, the job description does not accurately represent all that Karen brings to the Sherman Police Department. The tasks, which are outlined in the secretary title, include scheduling, purchasing, budget, payroll, etc. and are extremely important to the operation of the agency. The work she produces is evident by the dedication and commitment to the job. These tasks, however, are just a small part of Karen's responsibilities. PowerDMS and the Texas Police Chief Recognition Program are new projects we have implemented this past year in which she plays an important role. Karen is the main contact in the Document Management Software (PowerDMS) and is constantly thinking of new ways to use the program to improve the way we do business. Karen is also the Program Manager in our efforts to obtain TPCA accreditation. On top of all she does, her professionalism and demeanor provide an excellent first impression of the Department to everyone who enters her office.

In recognition of her level of efficiency and professionalism, Karen Wolff is hereby awarded the Sherman Police Department's Civilian of the Year for 2015.
