Project H.E.L.P.
H (Health) E (Emergency) L (Life) P (Plan)
Mission
It is the intent of the Sherman Police Department to partner with our community. This partnership includes community members, and the caretakers, of those who are diagnosed with cognitive disorders. We want to work collaboratively to protect the most vulnerable in our community. Project H.E.L.P. is specifically designed to address the needs of those with cognitive disorders and improve law enforcement’s response during emergency situations.
Purpose
Project H.E.L.P. is designed to aid law enforcement and first-responders during emergency situations involving community members with cognitive disorders. It is common for those with cognitive disorders to go missing or encounter circumstances that require medical attention. It is critical in those moments, for law enforcement and first-responders, to be equipped with information to help keep those vulnerable members of our community safe. This information can include: visual impairment, hearing impairment, speech impairment, physical identifying characteristics, potential triggers, and any visual or verbal prompts. Being equipped with this information allows first-responders to anticipate and provide for any individually specific needs during the emergency.
Prerequisites
